Job Summary

We are seeking a reliable and hardworking General Labourer to join our multifamily construction team in Ontario. Under the direction of the Site Superintendent, the General Labourer will perform a variety of Division 1 tasks to ensure the smooth operation of the construction site. This role involves manual labour, site maintenance, and support for various trades to maintain a safe, clean, and efficient work environment.

Key Responsibilities

Site Preparation and Cleanup: Clear debris, sweep, and maintain a tidy worksite to ensure safety and accessibility. Remove and dispose of waste materials in compliance with site protocols and local regulations.
Material Handling: Load, unload, and transport construction materials, tools, and equipment to designated areas as directed by the Site Superintendent.
Temporary Facilities Support: Assist in setting up and maintaining temporary facilities, such as site fencing, signage, erosion control measures, and portable toilets.
General Assistance to Trades: Provide support to carpenters, masons, and other trades by carrying materials, holding fixtures, or performing basic tasks under supervision.
Safety Compliance: Adhere to all Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) regulations, wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), and report hazards or incidents to the Site Superintendent.
Equipment and Tool Maintenance: Clean and organize tools, equipment, and storage areas. Report any damaged or unsafe equipment to the Site Superintendent.
Site Security: Assist with securing the site during non-working hours, including checking perimeter fencing and ensuring materials are stored safely.
Other Duties: Perform additional tasks as assigned by the Site Superintendent to support project progress and Division 1 requirements.

Qualifications and Requirements

Experience: Previous experience in construction or general labour preferred but not mandatory. On-the-job training will be provided.
Physical Fitness: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand for extended periods, and perform repetitive tasks in various weather conditions.
Skills: Basic knowledge of construction tools and equipment. Ability to follow instructions and work effectively in a team environment.
Certifications: Valid Working at Heights certification and WHMIS training are assets. Must be willing to complete required safety training.
Licenses: Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to the job site are preferred.
Availability: Willingness to work flexible hours, including occasional weekends, to meet project deadlines.
Compliance: Must comply with Ontario’s health and safety regulations and company policies.

Working Conditions

Work is performed outdoors and indoors on active construction sites, with exposure to dust, noise, and varying weather conditions.
Requires wearing PPE, including hard hat, safety boots, high-visibility vest, and gloves.
Fast-paced environment with frequent interaction with the Site Superintendent and other trades.
