Description
Estimator
The Estimator is involved in all aspects of the preconstruction phase of various construction projects. This role involves accurate estimating, budgeting, and coordinating with various stakeholders to ensure successful project planning and execution. The Estimator has strong analytical skills, detailed knowledge of construction processes, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Duties include but not limited to:
Estimating and Budgeting
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for commercial, residential, and industrial construction projects.
- Develop and manage project budgets, ensuring cost-effective solutions.
- Analyze drawings, specifications, and other documentation to prepare comprehensive estimates.
- Conduct quantity take-offs and prepare bid proposals.
Preconstruction Planning
- Collaborate with architects, engineers, and subcontractors to gather accurate project information.
- Participate in design meetings and provide value engineering recommendations.
- Develop project schedules and milestones in collaboration with project managers.
Bid Management
- Prepare and issue requests for proposals (RFPs) to subcontractors and suppliers.
- Review and evaluate bids from subcontractors, ensuring alignment with project requirements.
- Negotiate contract terms and conditions with subcontractors and suppliers.
Client and Stakeholder Communication
- Participate in client presentations and meetings.
Documentation and Reporting
- Prepare detailed preconstruction reports and documentation for internal and external use.
- Prepare and maintain subcontract documents and Tender Analysis documents
- Maintain organized and accurate records of estimates, bids, and contracts.
- Provide regular progress reports to senior management.
Qualifications
- Diploma or degree in Construction/Architectural Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
- 3-5 years of experience in the construction industry, preferably in an estimating or preconstruction role.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with Bluebeam, Procore, Building Connected and Builder software.
- Ability to work effectively in a team and independently.
- Knowledge of construction processes, safety standards, and relevant regulations in Ontario
